What is anti-wrinkle injectable treatment?
By law, it is illegal to mention, in advertising, the name of the product that is used for this treatment. This is because it is a prescription-only drug. However, our main product is a derivative of the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles. The effects are usually confined to the injected region; it does not travel throughout the body.
What is the treatment and what can I expect?
Your technician will determine exactly where to administer several tiny injections to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is required. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief—most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. It is unlikely you will develop significant side effects, although some people may develop slight temporary bruising at the injection site, which can easily be covered by makeup. You may resume normal activity immediately. Within days, you'll see a marked improvement which may continue to improve for as long as a week and should last up to four months.
It relaxes the overactive muscles whose repeated contractions cause the lines between your brows to form. So you can frown, smile, or look surprised—without the furrows, creases, and wrinkles.
How does the treatment make wrinkles “disappear”?
Normally, your brain sends electrochemical messages to your muscles to make them contract and move. These messages are transmitted from a nerve to the muscle by a substance called acetylcholine. When too much acetylcholine is released, muscles become overly active and spasm or tense up.
It blocks the nerve from releasing acetylcholine. As a result, the muscle spasms stop or are greatly reduced, providing relief from symptoms. Is the treatment painful?
Discomfort is minimal and brief. Your physician may choose to use a local anesthetic cream or ice to minimize this. Once the injection is complete, there is usually no discomfort. How often do I need a re-treatment?
The effects usually last about four months, although it will vary by patient. Because it is a safe material, it can be repeated as necessary without regulation. As soon as you notice your facial wrinkles beginning to relax and take their old shape, you can schedule your next re-treatment.
Will my lines look worse if I choose not to continue treatments?
No. Your lines gradually revert to their pre-treatment appearance.
What the treatment is not.
It is not magic. It’s medicine, the result of years of careful research and testing. the product is the only one of its type with over 10 years of success in treating patients with a variety of conditions. It will not radically change your appearance or make you look like you’ve had "work done". It will not make you look 20 years younger. Because it’s highly localized and administered intra-muscularly, its effects are usually confined to the region of injection, and does not remain in your body indefinitely.
Is it right for you?
Any woman or man who is concerned about the appearance of their frown lines can consider treatment. Treatment can be used by people from ages 18 to 65.
If doing all you can to look your best is important to you, it may be for you. If reducing those tough lines between your brows would make you feel more approachable, it may be for you. Thousands of appearance-conscious women and men have already discovered the benefits. Not just models and movie stars, but ordinary people—teachers, mothers, and business people from all walks of life. Is the treatment expensive?
When considering your facial aesthetic options, you'll find that the treatment is quite affordable. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery’s 2000 survey, anti-wrinkle injectable treatment is one of the least expensive facial aesthetic procedures, ranking 7th in the 9 most widely-used procedures in the United States. Like other appearance-related investments, such as hair coloring and cuts, teeth whitening, and chemical peels, the cost must be weighed relative to your expectations. Pricing will be discussed during individual consultation. Injections are customized to individual patient needs and concerns and thus prices may vary between patients.
How popular is the treatment?
A million people have been treated since FDA approval in 2002. Not just models and movie stars, but people from all types of professions.
It has been used for more than 15 years to help patients worldwide, and it is approved by the health ministries of at least 70 countries.
